Why redirect? what is “Spiritual Burnout”?

We’re taught how to build a successful career, but not how to create happiness.

How to make and save money, but not how to feel wealthy and worthy.

How to master “hireable” skillsets, but not how to uncover and develop our own innate talents.

We do everything to make everyone else proud of us: a perfect picture of success. 

But somehow, hitting goal after goal just doesn’t lead to joy or satisfaction.

What went wrong? When? How?

You might be spiritually burned out

Spiritual burnout: tiredness of the soul

When it feels like your life is just.. not right. And leading you somewhere you don’t want to go.

Aimlessness, confusion, existential dread, lacking purpose and meaning.

Emptiness despite being busy (and pushing yourself to work more & harder to feel rewarded & impactful).

This is a big red flag from your intuition.

At the core, spiritual burnout is MISALIGNMENT:

Your current reality and life direction doesn’t match what your soul truly wants and needs.

You’re meant to do fulfilling work, lead a healthful life, and be generously rewarded for your talents.

But most of us are burned out, overextended, unfulfilled, and unhappy. What’s going on? 

(Short answer? Outdated education frameworks based on a vertical class structure and aimed at creating factory (ahem, office) workers.)

We don’t have to live this way.

Spiritual Burnout can be sneaky…

 Subtle signs of spiritual burnout:

  • Finding it hard to feel grateful for what you have

  • Not feeling proud of your accomplishments

  • Feeling like you’re never doing enough

  • Day-dreaming of “running away” from your life (van life, backpacking, soul-searching)

  • Feeling guilty for complaining about your “perfectly good life”

  • Pushing yourself to work harder and still not feeling rewarded

It’s tempting to ignore spiritual burnout and think:

“Oh, I’m fine, I should be grateful for my life, others have it way worse.”

“I’m stable and surviving, and that’s enough.”

“I just need to work harder, then I’ll feel good!”

But the longer we ignore spiritual burnout, the more it persists.

What if it’s NOT depression? What if you DON’T need more therapy?
